Navy's Trident Sub Replacement Plan
We are working on a campaign to scuttle the Navy's plans for a new generation of ballistic missile submarines to replace the current Trident (Ohio Class) subs. These subs are a relic of the Cold War, and their continued deployment is not only in contravention to international humanitarian law, but also increases the risk of nuclear war. You can learn about the NO To NEW TRIDENT Campaign at notnt.org.
Washington Mayors For Peace Campaign
Mayors for Peace (M4P) - http://www.mayorsforpeace.org/english/index.html is a world wide effort to support solidarity between cities in order to totally abolish nuclear weapons. They now have 4,515 members. Two current Washington State mayors - in Spokane and Tacoma - are members. At least one other Washington city, Seattle, is registered, although the current Mayor is not a member.
We have organized a campaign to get citizens around the Pacific Northwest, and particularly around Puget Sound to invite your mayors to join Mayors for Peace. You can learn more and become a citizen ambassador for Mayors for Peace for your city by sending an email to Leonard Eiger at subversivepeacemaking@gmail.com. I will send you everything you need to get started.
