Final call to comment on Second Explosives Handling Wharf

We have just 15 days left to comment on the planned Bangor Second Explosives Handling Wharf Final Environmental Impact Statement!!!

The Final EIS has been filed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Notice of Availability (NOA) appeared in the Federal Register on March 30, 2012. Regulations provide for a 30-day wait period after the NOA is issued before the agency may take final action. The wait period is an opportunity for the Navy and the public to review the document. After the 30-day wait period is complete, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations & Environment) will make a decision on the alternative to be implemented, which will be documented in the Record of Decision (ROD). The ROD will include responses to substantive comments, if any, not already addressed in the Final EIS.

If you submitted comments at any stage of the EID process, they should have been recorded, and therefore published in one of the following documents.  Check the appropriate section of the Final EIS to make sure your comments were published.  Names of commenters are listed alphabetically at the beginning of each comments section.

You can view the entire Final EIS at the project website: https://www.nbkeis.com/ehw/.

This project is as unnecessary (and destabilizing) as a new (Kansas City) Bomb Plant to build new nuclear weapons components, (Los Alamos) Plutonium Pit Facility, and (Oak Ridge) Uranium Processing Facility.  It simply should not be built!

This is your opportunity to make additional comments, as any comments postmarked or received by April 30 will become part of the official record.

You may submit your comments using the "Comments" page at the project website or by postal mail.  Send your written comments to:
